Elon Musk Censors for Brazil & FBI visits Odysee founder over his Tweets

"Things get more draconian pretty quickly, highlighting the need for decentralized tech."

Elon Musk Censors for Brazil & FBI visits Odysee founder over his Tweets

Elon Musk Reversal

Before:

Previously the narrative was that Elon Musk was going to stand up to censorship, and things were going to turn around for free speech. As I had said numerous times prior, no one man or company can stand-up to the oppression of the empire. And instead, we need decentralized solutions.

Now:

Now Twitter is giving in to demands from Brazil, to quote the New York Times:

X’s lawyers said the company had done exactly what Mr. Musk vowed not to: take down accounts that a Brazilian justice ordered removed because the judge said they threatened Brazil’s democracy.

FBI visits over Tweets

Further, there is news from the founder of Odysee, Jeremy Kauffman, which is a pro-Liberty video sharing website. Odysee recently adopted the Arweave protocol for storage of the videos. And Kauffman’s recent tweets caught the attention of the FBI. He had joked that there should be equal opportunity for presidential assassination attempts, implying that Kamala Harris should be a target, but without expressly saying so. [2]

FBI Visit:

This tweet alone, got multiple armed FBI agents to visit Kauffman’s home and try to interrogate him.

Kauffman defiantly asked for identification and filmed them, until they backed down and left. [2] However, even though this is being broadcasted to the Libertarian community as a huge win, in my opinion, this incident serves to chill free speech, as most people do not have the guts to stand-up the way that he did. And putting FBI visits on the agenda of outcomes for people, does a lot of harm.

Arweave’s Anti-Fragile

Arweave is up 17.37% on all of this news. Arweave offers censorship resistant websites, files, and domains, which are controlled by a self-custodial wallet. This situation highlights how Arweave is anti-fragile. By this I mean, the more governments censor, the higher the price of Arweave should go. This censor-price-rise creates a positive feedback loop, where more investment goes into development on the protocol, the decentralized endowment can keep the files up longer, and more storage providers come online to earn. We discussed Arweave in this section.

Bastyon Surge

Also Bastyon’s Pkoin is surging, with it now up 50% from my article advocating to invest. To repeat, I thought this was a good investment because of the protocol’s rising in popularity in Russia and the catalyst of Telegram’s CEO being jailed:
