Cross-Browser Fonts Fingerprinting

The honest truth you need to know

Cross-Browser Fonts Fingerprinting

We’ve discussed a single browser being easy to fingerprint, but another huge is issue is cross-brower identifications.

Floorp & Firefox

To avoid browser fingerprinting, many people download forks such as Floorp. But floorp is so similar to Firefox, that Browser Leaks tests show it being a unique match cross-browser by fonts.

WebGL

The WebGL is also a match across these two browsers. Many forks in general are superficial changes.

Brave & Vivaldi

Vivaldi (on the left) and Brave (on the right) are two Chromium-based forks. But they expose the exact same values on fonts tests. Imagine that combined with the same IP address.

Brave and Ungoogled Chromium

The default form for Ungoogled Chromium is flatpak, and flatpaks have their own set of exposed fonts. But if the user exposes any fonts to them, it can be a big deal here, as they start out the gate matched:

Brave 1.80.124 as a Flatpak, and Ungoogled Chromium 138.0.7204.168 as a Flatpak.

Librewolf & Firefox

I got an exact match from LibreWolf Version 128.0.3-2, and Vanilla Firefox Version 129.0. But I got mixed results with other setups. But even still, do you really want to waste your life checking each group of versions? This kind of deep technical analysis should not fall on the end-user.

Imagine someone trying to do isolation, only to be mislead. This article only touches the surface of all the privacy risks, covering just one aspect of it.

HydraVeil

While as with HydraVeil, it bundles different fonts into each profile. This empowers the user to show different fingerprints even on the same hardware, even with the same browser.

Our Distro has a Unique Canvas Baked-in

This is not just a regular browser distro, but it’s got a unique canvas open-source “spice” added to each browser to totally throw off the creeps. The implementation is custom tailored to each of the 4 browsers we offer.

Each HydraVeil Profile Gets:

-New Fonts per Profile
-New Canvas per Session
