Dynamic Larger Profiles | HydraVeil Release 2.2.5
And two location operators
Misunderstanding
Many misunderstand screen size fingerprinting. They assume that when a website fingerprints their browser, that it merely gets the display ‘category’, such as ‘1200x800’. But in reality, it gets your unique size down to the microscopic pixels, such as 1202x799. Each window will fill the display slightly differently, which absolutely can (and is) tracked across services.
Tor Restricts it
Tor Browser attempts to hide unique screen sizes by blocking and restricting Javascript, which causes services such as Google, Reddit, and Cloudflare to haze you. And often breaks the display of the website itself.
Brave deprecated it
In 2024 with version 1.64, Brave completely deprecated ‘strict’ screen size fingerprinting, because it so frequently broke websites. This mode was the only one that actually protected the unique pixels of your screen size. Which is exactly what I’m screaming about, that modern web browsers force you to pick between privacy and functionality.

That’s why I’m excited about HydraVeil’s feature to instantly create a new display, that realistically looks to websites like the browser window is your computer’s full screen dimensions. Here we can see deviceinfo-me compared to Tor Browser to HydraVeil’s profiles, and it does not perceive it to be spoofed.

For more detailed explanation, please see our yellow paper.
Smaller Displays
But many HydraVeil users have complained that they don’t want to deal with smaller windows. So how can you get the convenience of larger sizes, but the privacy protection of different sizes? And that’s why I’m excited about our new update today.
Dynamic Larger Screen Sizes
We are proud to present a new mode for quick profile creation, which when enabled presents many screen size options that are only slightly smaller than your host, in 50 dimension increments. When used in ‘fast mode’, it allows the user to effortlessly and conveniently get profiles that comfortably fill up their host’s display window, but each one is slightly different to fingerprinters.
Fast mode
This can be enabled AFTER ‘fast mode’ is enabled in the ‘create/edit’ options.

Two locations Changed
Additionally, as part of our continued decentralization plan, we are having both direct team contributors and overall community members run VPN nodes. We’re happy to announce that Zenaku has begun running Moldova, and Dr. Zhivago is now operating Singapore.
Zenaku - Moldova
Zenaku is the GUI designer for HydraVeil, the lead developer of ArWeb, and the designer of the Simplified Privacy article and podcast websites. We thank him for contributing to the project, and are happy to have him run the Moldova node.

Dr. Zhivago - Singapore
Dr. Zhivago is a community member, Nostr political activist, admin of our SimpleX group, and a HydraVeil alpha tester. His bug reporting and suggestions have helped the project move forward in the early stages. We are happy to have him run the Singapore node going forward.

Updating Pricing
Unfortunately, due to rising bandwidth prices, we have to raise prices across the board. Not only do we need to pay for the servers, but attract relevant and talented peers to run nodes, which requires a budget. Additionally, we will be rolling out automated cover traffic for profiles, which will consume even more bandwidth than we are now. With all these factors in mind, we are forced to raise pricing for profiles from 1 euro to 1.5 euros (per month).
Summary
All of these changes are reflected in the new update. This has the dynamic larger profiles, new operator changes, and the pricing update.
